That was 27 years ago, and William Gardner’s idea was indeed a good one. More than $90 million has been raised by and for the HSC Foundation, a testament to the vision of those first volunteers, and the many generous donors who have followed in their footsteps.

In honour of Uncle Brad, Leesa and Bill decided that instead of the traditional ‘glass klinking’, the newlyweds asked their guests to make a donation to the kissing jar to see them kiss. The couple chose a personalized tent card for every table to spread the word amoung their guests of their cause worthy of kissing. Leesa and Bill raised an outstanding $1,400 from their wedding, all of which was directed to The Hope Project, the revitalization of GD6.

Ethan celebrated his 6th birthday on January 4, 2009. There was a party with friends and games and birthday cake... but no presents. The ‘no presents’ part was Ethan’s idea. He decided that instead of receiving gifts, he would ask his friends to give a present to the HSC Foundation.
