Your Impact - Integrated Operating Rooms
In May of 2015, the Health Sciences Centre Foundation celebrated the opening of four new integrated operating rooms at HSC Winnipeg.  An integrated operating room includes high-definition cameras and monitor systems that improve real-time information available to the surgical teams.  The signal from the cameras is also connected to a designated classroom in the hospital.
These integrated operating rooms improve both safety and efficiency in HSC Winnipeg’s surgical program, while increasing educational opportunities for clinical professionals, both established and in training.
It all amounts to a better experience for the 22,000+ patients who require surgery at HSC each year, improved training for health care providers, and a new way to showcase the skills and talents of our world-class surgical teams to other healthcare professionals.  The enhanced working environment for Manitoba’s top physicians also aids in the recruitment and retention of doctors - helping to keep the best and brightest in the province.
The upgrades were made possible by a total of $1 million in generous donations received from the Riley family; James W. Burns, O.C., O.M.; Brian and Ruth Hastings on behalf of Qualico; and Paul Challoner.   We thank them and all of our supporters who continue to help us bring hope to life for families who need care at HSC.
