About Us - Our Responsibility
The Health Sciences Centre Foundation’s first responsibility is to wisely, effectively and ethically raise and use the funds entrusted to the Foundation by our donors and supporters. We further recognize that, as HSC Winnipeg is a publicly funded institution, we have a responsibility to support programs and initiatives that benefit the greater good for our community through efficient and transparent financial management.
Part of being good stewards of the donations we receive is ensuring that all of the work the Foundation carries out to raise funds and deliver on our mission is funded appropriately. In order to raise funds, the HSC Foundation needs to utilize resources with real costs associated with them - ranging from the work of dedicated fundraising staff, to donation processing, financial management, donor recognition and stewardship, and research grants administration. In order to ensure that the HSC Foundation has the resources necessary to support our work, effective April 1, 2015, 7.5% of capital campaign  gifts are being used to support these costs. This policy enables the Foundation to improve care at HSC, celebrate our generous donors, and ensures we have the resources in place to support our mission for many years to come.
With your help, and with honest and effective fundraising practices as our guiding principle, the Health Sciences Centre Foundation is able to maximize the impact we have improving health care in Manitoba.
