Tina Jones recognized for outstanding philanthropy in Manitoba
WINNIPEG—September 13, 2017—A local philanthropist is being recognized on National Philanthropy Day for making Manitoba a better place. Tina Jones, Board Chair of the Health Sciences Centre Foundation and owner of Banville & Jones Wine Co., has won the 2017 Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals Manitoba Chapter. This prestigious award recognizes Manitobans who enrich their communities.
"I’m humbled,” says Jones. "Manitobans are, no doubt, some of the most generous people I’ve met, and I’m very appreciative of their dedication to bettering our province. It’s the amazing teams and charities that I’ve worked with who truly make this award possible. Thank you all.”
Throughout Manitoba, Jones selflessly, loyally, and enthusiastically
  • Chairs the HSC Foundation’s Board of Directors, where she’s volunteered over 1,000 hours, generated over $7.2M in donor funding, and grown annual and donation revenues by over 25% and 75% respectively—in just three years.

  • Helped complete the HSC Foundation’s recent capital campaign in support of the $25M Centre for Surgical Innovation in the Kleysen Institute for Advanced Medicine.

  • Instrumental in helping to raise $1.2 million for the HSC Foundation’s Keeping Abreast Fund, which provides breast cancer patients with mastectomies and immediate breast reconstructions in a single surgery.

  • Lends her expertise, kindness, and leadership to board members, staff, donors, and surrounding community.

  • Supports multiple non-profits in our province aimed at health care, poverty reduction, education advancement, wildlife and wilderness conservation, and women’s initiatives.
Each year, through the Manitoba Philanthropy Awards, AFP Manitoba pays tribute to the individuals and organizations who have made a monumental impact on their community through the spirit of philanthropy.
"Tina’s impact is monumental. She’s not only a rallying supporter of the HSC Foundation—and health care at large—but is also selflessly committed to bettering education, conserving nature, and combating poverty,” says Jonathon Lyon, President and CEO of the HSC Foundation. "It’s remarkable how much time and energy she devotes to bettering the lives of the people who live in this province through her volunteer work. We’re fortunate to have such an inspirational person lead us at the HSC Foundation.”
Jones will receive her award on National Philanthropy Day, November 15, during AFP’s Manitoba Philanthropy Awards luncheon at the RBC Convention.
