The first meeting of the Board of Directors of Health Sciences Centre Research Foundation, chaired by Mr. William C. Gardner, was held on September 5, 1981. In 1990, the name of the organization was changed to reflect its increased mandate to support enhanced patient care as well as medical research.

Since that time, Health Science Centre Foundation, working in partnership with Health Sciences Centre, has invested in innovative care and supported the recruitment and retention of the finest clinical and scientific leaders.
