Parrish & Heimbecker Gift Makes Masks Available to Hospital Visitors

September 9, 2020

Masks now mandatory at all health-care facilities

Thanks to a generous donation from Parrish & Heimbecker, Ltd., one of Canada’s leading agribusinesses, the Health Sciences Centre Foundation has produced 15,000 reusable, non-medical masks for distribution to visitors to HSC Winnipeg.

The Province of Manitoba now requires that all visitors to health-care facilities wear masks to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The HSC Foundation mask initiative ensures that visitors can still see their loved ones or attend appointments, even if they have forgotten to bring a mask or do not own one.

The new reusable masks will be made available to visitors without charge.

“It is our honour to support this HSC Foundation initiative,” says John Heimbecker, CEO of Parrish & Heimbecker. “We believe that all companies and individuals need to step forward to promote and protect community health. We are in this battle against COVID-19 together and we are happy to do our part.”

“Parrish and Heimbecker has performed a great service to the community with this generous gift,” says Jonathon Lyon, President and CEO of the HSC Foundation. “The company is a long-time supporter of the Foundation. Their leaders understand the importance of investing in health care. Their support of the masks is yet another shining example of their compassion and community spirit.”

Masks are available without charge at various hospital entrances. Recipients are asked to keep them clean and wear them on subsequent visits to HSC.
