Savour: Wine & Food Experience
An extraordinary evening of generosity and glamour culminated in remarkable success at Savour New Zealand: Wine & Food Experience, presented by Garcea Group of Companies, where guests united in an outpouring of support to raise more than $1 million, an astounding and record-breaking amount, in support of vital upgrades for Health Sciences Centre (HSC).
“We are overwhelmed by the success of Savour New Zealand. It is a testament to the remarkable generosity of our community,” says Jonathon Lyon, President and CEO, HSC Foundation.
On February 22, the RBC Convention Centre was transformed into a stunning celebration of New Zealand’s beauty and culture as the sold-out event brought together more than 800 guests, including community leaders, health care professionals, and philanthropists with the shared goal of enhancing health care in Manitoba.
Attendees were welcomed with a haka, a ceremonial Māori dance from New Zealand, symbolizing strength, unity, and cultural identity through chanting and movement.
As the evening progressed, guests enjoyed mouthwatering dishes paired with expertly chosen wines.
The highlight of the night was the Live Auction and Fund-A-Need Auction, where attendees rallied behind the HSC Foundation’s goal to purchase vital tools for the HSC Adult Emergency Department. This funding will support the purchase of life-saving medical equipment, including:
- Specialized bedside monitors to assess CPR effectiveness in real-time
- Portable ultrasound units
- Slit lamps for eye emergencies
- Rapid infusers for safer, and quicker, blood transfusions
“Savour New Zealand serves as an outstanding example of what can be accomplished when individuals and organizations come together for a common cause: improving health care and life for Manitobans,” says Tina Jones, C.M., O.M., Board Chair, HSC Foundation.
As the night unfolded guests were treated to the music of Winnipeg’s finest cover band: the Big City All Star Band.
Thank you to all the guests, partners, Savour Committee members, and volunteers, whose enthusiasm and generosity made the event truly special.
