Frequently Asked Questions

 

How do I sign up for the Payroll 50/50?

You can sign up online at healthcarepayroll5050.com. If you would like help with the sign-up process, please phone the HSC Foundation’s Director of Special Initiatives at 204-515-5618 or email info@hscfoundation.mb.ca and we would be happy to walk you through signing up.

 

What are the ticket price options to participate?

Ticket prices (bi-weekly):

  • 1 ticket for $5
  • 3 tickets for $10
  • 10 tickets for $25
  • 50 tickets for $50

 

How do I opt out?

To cancel your participation in the Payroll 50/50 going forward, you must cancel online at healthcarepayroll5050.com at least two weeks prior to the draw date. You can cancel at any time.

 

How and when are winners selected?

Draws will be done through the service provider, Funding Change, using a random number generator, approved by LGCA. One winner will be drawn on the Wednesday, following paydays, at 2:00 pm, in the office of the HSC Foundation.

 

What are the sign up dates and draw dates?

Enrollment is offered quarterly for 2023:

  • May 1 – May 25
  • August 1 – August 17
  • November 1 – November 23

 

The 2023 draw dates are:

  • Wednesday, July 19, 2023

How will I know if I’ve won?

Winners will be posted on hscfoundation.mb.ca/manitobas-health-care-payroll-50-50-winners/ and the HSC Foundation Director of Special Initiatives will contact you via email/ phone.

 

Who is eligible?

 The Health Care Payroll 50/50 is currently available to:

  • Shared Health and Shared Health Medical Remuneration employees
  • HSC Campus employees
  • HSC Campus volunteers
  • Staff working in various clinics, stores, and other businesses on the HSC campus
  • University of Manitoba (Bannatyne campus only) students and faculty
  • RRC Polytech (HSC campus only) students and faculty
  • WRHA staff working on the HSC campus

 

How big will the prize pot be?

The program will be offering a guaranteed pot of $10,000 for each of the first 6 draws. The prize pot after that will be dependent on the number of people who register.

 

I signed up for the Health Care Payroll 50/50—why is my subscription still listed as ‘pending’?

Your subscription for the Health Care Payroll 50/50 will remain pending until the enrollment period closes on May 25, 2023.

 

What happens if I quit and am no longer on the HSC Campus, but want to continue to participate?

Unfortunately, you may only participate in the Health Care Payroll 50/50 if you work, study, or volunteer on the HSC campus.  Please contact the HSC Foundation Director of Special Initiatives at 204-515-5618 for any further questions.

 

Do I receive a charitable receipt?

No, there are no tax receipts issued and the ticket is not tax deductible.

 

Where do proceeds go?

Proceeds support both the HSC Foundation and the Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Your support of the Children’s Hospital Foundation will help purchase vital medical equipment, fund life-saving research, and offer programs that bring comfort to sick children and their families during difficult times.

Your support of the HSC Foundation will  help to advance vital medical research; purchase state-of-the-art equipment to diagnose and treat patients; train the next generation of medical and research leaders; enhance HSC Winnipeg’s facilities; and implement programs to enhance the patient and family experience.

 

Who can’t participate?

You are not eligible to participate if you are a staff or board member of the applicable Foundations, a staff member on the Shared Health Payroll HR Analytics and Reporting team, or a family member residing in the same household of the above.

 

How do I check if I am a current Shared Health or Shared Health Medical Remuneration employee?

Look for the employer name on your remuneration statement.
