Giving Tuesday

This Giving Tuesday the HSC Foundation was raising money to acquire three essential pieces of equipment for HSC Women’s Hospital—a colposcope, a micromanipulator, and an advanced Operative Cystoscopy.

• Colposcope – a specialized microscope used to closely examine the cervix and vaginal tissues for signs of disease or abnormalities. This piece of equipment is critical for the prevention and treatment of early cancer. This new equipment will be an upgrade as HSC currently has a colposcope that is over 20 years old.
• Micromanipulator – a precision surgical tool used to perform delicate procedures, which enables surgeons to remove or treat abnormal growths while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue.
• Operative Cystoscopy – an advanced surgical tool that increases a surgeon’s ability to visualize vascular involvement when treating patients dealing with high-risk complications to pregnancy, such as placenta accreta, an abnormal attachment of the placenta to the uterine wall. Cystoscopy is also used to treat patients coping with endometritis.
