More research, resources coming to support Manitoba’s hospital
WINNIPEG, MB—January 25, 2019—Donors to the Health Sciences Centre Foundation’s Hope to Life Radiothon, presented by Maric Homes, exceeded the goal, and raised $184,120.56! That total includes $30,000 in matching gifts from The Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company, Johnston Group, and Access Credit Union, and $8,000 in matching gifts from the Challoner Family.
These funds will improve care for patients at Manitoba’s hospital. The Radiothon was broadcasted live on 680 CJOB from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Power 97 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., in the heart of HSC. Guests included grateful patients who shared moving stories and doctors, researchers, and frontline staff who shared insights into their work at HSC.
“This community is making an incredible impact on Manitoba’s health care system through the HSC Foundation,” said Jonathon Lyon, President and CEO of the Foundation. “Our donors change lives and they save lives. We’re extremely grateful for the generosity that we saw today and that we see every day.”
Money raised through the Radiothon helps improve patient care at HSC through important research initiatives, training opportunities for health care staff, the acquisition of cutting-edge medical equipment, and the development of new state-of-the-art facilities.
“Like so many in this province, our family has been deeply touched by the care provided at HSC,” said Tanya Maric, Vice President of Operations at Maric Homes. “As presenting sponsor for Radiothon, we are proud to support the HSC Foundation and the vital role it plays in the health and well-being of all Manitobans.”
“We thank our guests for sharing their stories, our sponsors for their tremendous support, and the talented hosts at 680 CJOB and Power 97 for their enthusiasm and involvement,” said Tina Jones, Chair of the HSC Foundation Board. “Our supporters and partners bring hope to life for patients and families every day at HSC. They have a profound impact on people’s lives, and we are deeply grateful.”
