For National Nursing Week 2022, join us in celebrating Vickie Manning, nurse in HSC Winnipeg’s Thoracic Surgery Program
Inspired by her older sister and driven by her aspiration to land a challenging career, Newfoundland-born-and-raised Vickie Manning found her calling as a nurse at HSC Winnipeg 22 years ago.
As an operating room nurse in the Thoracic Surgery Program, Manning provides care to patients undergoing major thoracic procedures, such as removing cancer from their lungs. However, Manning’s role doesn’t end there as she is also an invaluable mentor and resource to her fellow staff members and nursing students.
“What I like most about being a nurse is making a difference in the lives of others,” notes Manning.
If Manning had to describe the career of nursing in one word, fulfilling would be it!
