The Health Sciences Centre Foundation’s signature fundraising event raises more than $1 million, a record amount, to improve patient care at the Health Sciences Centre
Manitobans have once again demonstrated their incredible spirit of generosity, raising more than $1 million, an impressive and record-breaking amount, at the Health Sciences Centre (HSC) Foundation’s Savour New Zealand: Wine & Food Experience, presented by Garcea Group of Companies. The sold-out signature event raised funds to support and improve patient care at HSC, Manitoba’s hospital.
“We are overwhelmed by the success of this year’s Savour New Zealand. It is a testament to the remarkable generosity of our community,” says Jonathon Lyon, President and CEO, HSC Foundation. “We couldn’t have reached this milestone without our incredible donors and partners, including our title partner, Garcea Group of Companies, who recognize the urgent need to support the continued exceptional care at HSC. Thank you, we are deeply grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of this event.”
On the evening of February 22, the RBC Convention Centre was transformed into a vibrant celebration of New Zealand’s culture. The sold-out signature fundraising event, Savour New Zealand: Wine & Food Experience, brought together more than 800 guests, including prominent community leaders, health care professionals, and philanthropists all dedicated to improving health care in Manitoba.
A portion of funds raised will go towards acquiring critical medical equipment in HSC’s Adult Emergency Department. The event’s spirited live auction and Fund-A-Need Auction saw attendees rally behind the HSC Foundation’s goal to purchase vital tools including a specialized bedside monitor that assess CPR effectiveness in real-time, portable ultrasound units, slit lamps for eye emergencies, and rapid infusers for safer, and quicker, blood transfusions.
“The funds raised have a lasting impact. Not only will it enhance the equipment in HSC’s Adult Emergency Department, but it also stands as a powerful expression of support to our frontline health care professionals,” says Tina Jones, C.M., O.M., Board Chair, HSC Foundation. “Savour New Zealand serves as an outstanding example of what can be accomplished when individuals and organizations come together for a common cause: improving health care and life for Manitobans.”
