Over $319,000 Raised for Patient Care at Annual HSC Foundation’s Radiothon

January 21, 2025

With record donations, donors make a difference for thousands of Manitobans

The 19th-annual Innovation HSC Radiothon, presented by Maric Homes, raised a record-breaking $319,002 for the Health Sciences Centre Foundation (HSC Foundation) on January 17, 2025. Broadcast from HSC Women’s Hospital, the Radiothon brought Manitobans together to support improvements in health care at HSC Winnipeg, Manitoba’s hospital.

From 6 AM to 6 PM, listeners tuned in to 680 CJOB, Power 97, and Country 99 to hear uplifting stories from patients and dedicated HSC health care professionals, highlighting the significance and positive impact donations have on patients and their loved ones.

“The undeniable donor support during the Innovation HSC Radiothon shows how important coming together as a community is,” said Jonathon Lyon, President and CEO, HSC Foundation. “It’s humbling and inspiring to see so many people donate for the continued exceptional care at HSC. On behalf of the Board, staff, and volunteers of the HSC Foundation, I want to thank everyone who contributed to the success of this event.”

This year, Innovation HSC Radiothon donations included a combined $92,000 in matching gifts from Access Credit Union, Arbor Memorial, Birchwood Automotive Group, Johnston Group, Just Like New To You, Manitoba pork producers, Payworks, and Winnipeg Kinsmen.

“Maric Homes has partnered with the HSC Foundation since 2010, and we’re thrilled to have been the Presenting Partner of the Innovation HSC Radiothon for our ninth year,” said Tanya Maric, VP Operations, Maric Homes. “HSC has supported so many Manitobans in their health care journeys, including our own. Hearing the profound impact fundraising has had on HSC’s incredible health care makes us proud to continue supporting the HSC Foundation.”

A portion of funds raised through the Radiothon will enable the HSC Foundation to acquire three essential pieces of equipment for HSC Women’s Hospital: a colposcope—a specialized microscope to help prevent and treat cancer; a micromanipulator—a precision surgical tool to perform delicate procedures; and an advanced operative cystoscope—a surgical instrument to treat patients with endometriosis and complications related to high-risk pregnancies.
