Crosier Kilgour makes major gift to Operation Excellence

Decisions about Crosier Kilgour’s donations are made collectively by the firm’s principals: “The pace of progress in health care technology is truly unbelievable,” says Derek Mizak, company President. “We’re supporting the HSC Foundation because we want to contribute to that progress.”

From community skate parks and safety initiatives to engineering access programs to 23 years of support to the Health Sciences Centre Foundation, the spirit of giving back is deeply embedded in the DNA of Crosier Kilgour, a Winnipeg-based engineering firm.

“It’s just the right thing to do,” says Derek Mizak, company President. “We’ve been blessed as a Manitoba company. We’re grateful for that and happy to do our best to be a good corporate citizen. It’s important to give back.”

“We like to spread our support around the community,” says company Vice-President Haney Louka, “but every once in a while, a major initiative comes along where we feel we can focus our attention and have an even bigger impact.”

Operation Excellence was one such initiative, and so Crosier Kilgour stepped forward with a $100,000 gift as part of the campaign’s Corporate Challenge. The firm has had a long relationship with HSC as a provider of engineering services; its partners understand the challenges of providing advanced health care, and deeply appreciate the vision of Operation Excellence. They also value the essential role HSC plays.

“HSC is central to the wellness of Manitobans,” says Mizak. “I don’t think there are a lot of people who haven’t been touched by HSC in some way.”

Mizak and Louka note that decisions about donations are made collectively by the firm’s 11 partners and that there was a broad consensus to participate in the Operation Excellence Corporate Challenge.

“Because we’ve done a lot work at HSC, I think we’re all excited and fascinated by the potential of Operation Excellence to improve care,” says Louka.

“The pace of progress in health care technology is truly unbelievable,” Mizak adds, citing his own speedy recoveries from knee and gall bladder surgeries in recent years. “We’re supporting the HSC Foundation because we want to contribute to that progress. As a local company, we want the best for Manitobans.”
