Brenda Poapst always had a caring personality and a strong desire to help people. A mother of young children at the time, Poapst was looking for a rewarding career that didn’t have the traditional Monday-to-Friday workweek when she decided to enroll in nursing school.

Upon graduating from nursing school in 2010, Poapst worked on HSC Winnipeg’s GD2 (the Orthopedic Trauma Unit) as a floor nurse until May 2021 when she transferred into the role of clinical resource nurse on RR6, HSC’s Subacute Orthopedic/Trauma Surgery Unit.

“On RR6, I support patients, their loved ones, and fellow staff. I work with an interdisciplinary team of home care, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, and much more. It’s a well-rounded hat that I wear,” says Poapst.

Learn more about the critical work Poapst does in the below video.
