For National Nursing Week 2023, join us in celebrating Heather Chapko, RN, BN, Nurse Clinician in HSC’s RR4 Plastic Surgery Clinic
Heather Chapko, RN, BN, has worked with many incredible doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals in HSC Winnipeg’s RR4 Plastic Surgery Clinic. In her over 25 years as a nurse, Chapko has witnessed, time and time again, the shining examples of patient care her colleagues have offered.
Chapko knows that nursing can be a challenge, but to her, the challenge is well worth it.
“Nursing is rewarding. It’s interesting, and you always learn new things. Nursing will always be an exciting path, one where you can always learn and grow,” says Chapko.
Chapko’s role is to be the overall guide to patients during their time at the clinic. She sees patients before and after surgery and ensures that they get the care and support they need and deserve, and that they are equipped with everything they need for their next appointments.
Donor support has already constructed improved spaces in the Plastic Surgery Clinic, most notably the mini procedure rooms that allow surgeons to perform procedures that previously could only happen in HSC’s main operating rooms.
Chapko feels proudest when she gives her patients the care they need, and that is possible in part because of donors like you.
“Your donations are making a difference. They are making things better, and they are helping people,” says Chapko.
You can learn more about the critical work Chapko does, and how donors play a role, in the video below.
