For National Nursing Week 2023, join us in celebrating Jason Douglas RN, Manager of Patient Care on HSC’s Inpatient Neurosurgery Unit
As a nurse of 16 years, Jason Douglas, RN, sees the future of nursing as one that is ever-changing. With new technology, new medical knowledge, and new medications always being implemented, Douglas thinks nurses will need to adapt to—and work with—these changes to continue to provide their patients with the best care.
To do that, Douglas believes different generations working together will have the biggest impact on patient care. Blending the experience of nurses who have worked at HSC for decades and new nurses with their fresh ideas has already proven to be beneficial to patient care in Douglas’s experience.
HSC Foundation donor support has also been crucial in providing Douglas and his team with the support needed to treat their patients more efficiently, more effectively, and more safely. Donor support can help fund the future Unit B5B, one of the HSC Foundation’s campaigns that will provide additional space and beds for the neurosurgery and epilepsy units in which Douglas works.
”Unit B5B will give us an opportunity to get more procedures done, provide areas that will be equipped to look after specific patient populations, and act as an area to move epilepsy patients who no longer need care where they can wait before being safely transported back to their homes,” explains Douglas.
You can learn more about the critical work Douglas does, and how donors play a role, in the video below.
